VIPWaterloo, in the heart of Canada’s Technology Triangle, is home to the University of Waterloo and many of Canada’s top companies. Many of the approximately 800 technology companies in the region can trace their origins to the University of Waterloo.

Looking to leverage the university’s existing entrepreneurial framework and support system and make it globally available through a GMAC MET Fund grant, the university is creating a Virtual Incubation Program (VIP) to help develop and launch new businesses both locally and globally.

In support of these new business ideas, VIP will provide access to learning modules, peer and mentor connections for collaboration, industry partners for additional resources, feedback and access to funding channels.

The program is expected to result in an increase in successful ventures and sharing of key business principles that can be utilized by business across the globe. International partners will be sought after the initial pilot phase to help increase student involvement and bring local business contacts together.
